The Cultural Services of the French Embassy are happy to offer the DLI community an opportunity to gather and exchange to address some of the most pressing issues educators, administrators and families are facing, such as distance learning education or equity and diversity in DLI programs.
To do so, the 2021 Virtual Spring Immersion Professional Development event will be on April 17 and it will be led by Valerie Sun.

Summer scholarship opportunities sponsored by the Embassy offer funding for American teachers to attend short training sessions in France during the month of July: 25 positions will be offered for teachers of French as a foreign language at CAVILAM French Alliance in the town of Vichy; and 5 positions for teachers of Dual Language & Immersion programs at CLA (Centre de Langues Appliquées) in the town of Besançon. The Embassy of France in the United States sponsors selected participants to attend these trainings.
The BELC training, organized by France Education International (formerly known as CIEP) are intensive courses offered to teacher trainers every year on the campus of the Université de Nantes. BELC (Bureau pour l'Enseignement de la Langue et de la Civilisation Françaises) trainings are intensive professional courses focused on four main objectives: improving instruction, improving training, improving evaluation, and improving classroom management.

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in partnership with the Detroit Public Schools's Office of World Languages are organizing a French Teacher Professionnal Development Workshop on March 11, 2019 on how to integrate contemporary French and Francophone culture in the classroom.
Each year, the French Embassy organizes several free workshops for French teachers and university professors throughout the United States. These 3-6 hour courses are led by specialists in French as a foreign language and cover a variety of themes. The past several years of workshops have covered themes such as "Debate in the French Classroom, " "Using French Media in the Classroom," and "Teaching French as a Foreign Language through Video Games. " Partnering and hosting institutions vary depending on context, and have historically included academic associations, university centers, Alliances Françaises, and school districts.
The French Embassy offers "Summer Universities" for teachers, in collaboration with universities, teachers' associations, Alliances Françaises, local school districts and educational authorities. These summer sessions last a minimum of 2 days with at least 5 hours of training per day, in different parts of the United States. Teachers have the opportunity for a full French immersion experience. Select programs also offer the possibility of obtaining professional development or continuing education credits through local educational authorities.
