French Teaching Intern Program 2021-2022 Academic Year

JANUARY 8, 2021 – MARCH 8, 2021

- Confirm via email your school’s intention to host French Teaching Interns with the Program Manager at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. 

- Confirm your committment to host an Intern with the Program Manager at the Embassy by March 8th.

- Secure funding or begin fundraising 

- Begin to reach out to school parent networks and your community to find a suitable host family for your Intern

APRIL 2021

- In mid April, you will receive candidates to interview via Skype or another video conferencing platform

- Continue fundraising, if necessary

MAY 2021

- Complete initial interviews by May 1

- Facilitated by the visa sponsor agency, complete and submit all necessary paperwork for the J-I Intern visa

- Confirm host family; submit host family paperwork after completing an in-person site-visit

JUNE 2021

- Complete all necessary paperwork for the visa by early June

- Payment in full of the administrative and program fee ($1,700) and payment in full of monthly health insurance for the entirety of the program (typically 10 months) is due before the Intern is able to obtain a visa

JULY 2021

- The Intern will obtain his or her visa at the U.S. Embassy in France


- Your intern arrives for a short orientation and training period before the start of the school year
