French Getaways, L’Ecole Buissonnière ▾
Promoting the use of the target language outside the dual language classroom

Through fun and social interactions with French speakers, this program opens up opportunities for students in French Dual Language and/or Immersion programs to practice their language skills outside of the school curriculum. The Cultural Services of the French Embassy invites Francophone authors, illustrators and other professionals to tour dual language and immersion schools throughout the United States and facilitate dynamic workshops during which students use French freely and naturally. The French Getaways program engages parents and local communities on a wider scale in the effort to bring the target language to life.

In the past, French Getaways workshops have included:

  • Marion Bataille's “Workshop AOZ” | Graphic design workshop (Spring 2017)
  • Sophie Glasser's “The Big Manual”| Craft activities (Fall 2017)
  • Sandra Lanillis' “A picture is worth a 1,000 (French) words” | Booklet to illustrate (Fall 2018)

To be confirmed in 2019:

UniversCiel
Rémi Courgeon "Brindille"

Two tours are organized each year, one in the spring and another in the fall terms.
