New York's Bilingual Fair 2016

Our favorite event of the year is coming up and we want you to be part of it. The Bilingual Education Fair of New York 2016 will be back at Hunter College on Saturday October 15th, 2016 and you will not want to miss it. More than 80 schools, publishing houses, and other specialists representing 12 different languages have signed up to be a part of this language love-fest. They will present their knowledge and answer questions for those interested in bilingual education at any stage of life.

This initiative is in response to a growing demand from New Yorker parents intrigued by the cognitive benefits and the professional advantages that bilingualism can offer. Research has proven that children who study a second language score higher on verbal standardized tests conducted in English. They have a wider array of vocabulary, giving them more words to define a single object, concept and/or idea. This is an advantage for bilingual kids that others may not necessarily have.

Last year, over 1000 persons came out to Hunter College for the Bilingual Education Fair 2015. Among the throngs of language enthusiasts, there were many parents — and future parents — interested in raising their children to speak more than one language. Eighty exhibitors turned out to present their services, wares and schools representing twelve nationalities. According to Monica who came last year, it was an opportunity to “discover schools and spend a fun day with my family”. The Bilingual Education Fair will help you to navigate the complicated pathways of getting a bilingual education, whether it is choosing a school or a method to use at home.

A free childcare will be available with activities for kids all days (9am to 5pm)! While you will be visiting the fair, your children will have fun with animated readings, singings, art & crafts, puppet making & puppet shows and clown show!
